A new look for a familiar address on Vienna’s Graben.

In the heart of Vienna, at one of the city’s most prestigious addresses, the upper floor of Café de l’Europe has been given a fresh look. Derenko’s redesign set out to create a timeless, refined atmosphere for this established venue, bringing together Viennese charm and Italian sophistication.

The interior concept centres on the interplay of fine materials, warm colours and carefully considered details. Matt-finished walnut sits alongside striking Patagonia marble, delicate brass accents and thoughtfully selected textiles. A palette of warm cognac and terracotta tones, rich green and soft natural shades lends depth to the rooms and creates an inviting atmosphere.

Particular attention was paid to the different seating areas. Generous, softly upholstered banquettes, curved alcoves and furniture tailored to each setting create a variety of intimate spaces within the bustling café. Beautifully crafted tabletops framed in wood, textured fabrics and decorative wall panelling reflect the emphasis on quality and comfort.

The bar forms a central feature of the design. Striking Patagonia marble, warm walnut and bronze-tinted mirrors with elegant brass accents give the space a distinctive, timeless character. A carefully considered lighting scheme, featuring strategically positioned wall lights and a sculptural, sweeping light installation, brings the individual areas together into a harmonious whole.

The result is an interior that combines classic coffee house elegance with timeless hospitality design. In an exclusive city-centre setting, it is as welcoming for a quick espresso as it is for a leisurely breakfast, a business lunch or an unhurried afternoon.

A familiar address. A fresh sense of space. And a piece of Viennese coffee house culture that continues to evolve.
