The Saigon Restaurant at Vienna's Getreidemarkt has undergone a comprehensive transformation, with Derenko completely redesigning both the interior and the corporate identity. The central vision of the owners was to make Vietnamese culture tangible beyond the plate. The design reflects the deep history and vibrant traditions of Vietnam, creating an atmosphere that immediately immerses guests in the world of Southeast Asia.
The choice of materials is dominated by reddish-brown wood in an elegant mahogany look, which serves as a connecting element throughout all rooms. The color palette is inspired by the lush nature of Vietnam, combining various shades of green – from deep forest green to soft pastel tones – in wall colors, fabrics, and tiles. Special details such as mandala-like wooden rosettes and fine carved elements add a touch of French colonial style, which is particularly evident on the spacious bar front.
The country's diversity is further highlighted by specially commissioned wall graphics that artistically showcase typical scenes from Vietnamese daily life. Decorative bamboo lamps, reminiscent of traditional fish traps, and relief-like ornamental tiles in the bar area round off the harmonious overall concept. Derenko has succeeded in creating a balanced fusion of traditional values and modern design, making Saigon a unique meeting place in the heart of Vienna.
